Words Can Change Your World

How ironic that an author is writing a blog about the power of words. I spend several hours a day compiling words into sentences that will bring you into the world of my manuscript. I use words that allow you to embrace my characters' lives, grow empathy for them, and even cry with them. Words have power.

What are you saying about your life? What world are you creating with your words?

Abracadabra is an ancient Hebrew word that means "as I speak, I create."

Now, go back to this morning when you woke up. What was the first sentence out of your mouth? What were you saying to yourself as you were getting ready for your day, driving to work, or driving to a friend's house?

Repeat that sentence here, and then say, abracadabra! (as I speak, I create)

Here's an example: "I'm exhausted…abracadabra!"

Or, "Today is going to be another boring day…abracadabra!"

You are a magician. You have spoken and created your day!

Your words are your most powerful tool and can be destructive for you and others. They can build you up or destroy you. They can build others up or destroy them.

When you are talking to yourself, you are creating thoughts. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I call this internal sentencing. See my blog of 9/9/24 “Self Talk Matters,” for more on internal sentencing.

Speaking positive thoughts to yourself often leads to positive behaviors. Speaking negative thoughts to yourself often leads to negative behaviors.

If you want to change your life, the first thing you need to change is your thoughts, and then change your words.

You manifest with every word you speak. You can either create the exact same life that you have, or you create a better one. Many people take their past and throw it onto their future by saying, "This is just the way my life is going to be."

Your future does not determine your past. Speak about your life better than it is. Yes!

And this brings me to a powerful word. The power of the word "but." When you place the word 'but' into a sentence, it erases everything in front of it.

I haven't had much money in the past, but I'm going to make good decisions about my future so that I prosper in all I do.

I was lazy in the past, but I am a world changer now.

I've been told I have anxiety, but I am working hard to overcome it.

"I am single, but I am working to better myself and find a mate."

 What's your but?

Now keep speaking that into reality. Allow it to build you up and encourage you.

Every thought is like a seed that you are planting. If you put a watermelon seed in the ground, you plan on getting watermelons.

You can't grow good results from bad thoughts.

Plant and water positive seeds. Be careful what you put into yourself, the people you follow on social media, what you watch on television, radio, podcasts, etc. Negative in--negative out. Positive in--positive out!

Stop telling yourself what you can't be, tell yourself what you can be, and change your life!

Use this with others. Tell your parents what they can be. Tell your friends and family what they can be. Build yourself up, build others up, and build a better world.
